Lies (Elisabeth) Arnts, was the daughter of Bart Arnts and Betje Reynen.

She lived with her 19 brothers and sisters at "The Castle", an old castle, today a farm, at Ooij NL near Nijmegen NL. The farm is situated just on the other side of the road of the house where Henk , Ger and Wim Oteman were born. Wim , when he was a child, often had to go there for fresh milk in a jug, which he sometimes let lick up by a neighbouring dog!

The Arnts family and the Kroes family, both farmers, cross each other several times in the history.

The mother of Bart Arnts is a Johanna Publichshuizen.

 

  

Bart and Gert there must have been one more child and also between Dory and Jos  (Netty lives in Leuth  NL ,  Paul in Ooij NL.

VII.39  Robert Joseph (Bob) A.B. en A.M. KREYCHE , Professor, born 26/08/1920 Racine WI , died 13/08/1974 Tucson AZ.

Robert was at high school (seminary) in Wisconsin and went then to the Catholic University of America in Washington DC. His Ph.D. degree in philosophy he obtained from the University of Ottawa, where he studied during summertime as his brother Jerry did afterwards. ( as a working student)

From 1947 to 1957 he taught at the Loyola University of Chicago, then at St.Joseph's College of Rensselaer IN from 1957 up to 1962 and at Rockhurst College in Kansas City MO (1962‑1965) and finally he became a professor of philosophy at the University of Arizona in Tucson during  9 years.

He was an active Christian and productive thinker and, apart from numerous educational articles, he authored  some six philosophical books in a somewhat Aristotalian sequence and in a formally Aristotalian and Thomistic framework: "Logic" in 1954, of which more than 450.000 copies were sold; "First Philosophy" 1959 ( a metaphysical work); " God and Contemporary Man" in 1965; “God and Reality" 1965; “ The Betrayal of Wisdom" 1972 (a history of philosophy, subtitled: Challenge to Philosophy Today and in a philosophical magazine ( Journal) , an ethical essay,         " Virtue and Law in Aquinas: Some Modern Implications"

From 1967 up to 1968 he was President of the " American Catholic Philosophical Association".

Furthermore he was the founder of the Thomas More Institute in Tucson and president from 1970 to 1974.

In 1973 he wrote a book "The Making of A Saint", in which he promoted the Christian principles of morality. For these activities he was awarded with the de Christian Cultural Award Medal of the Assumption College of Windsor University in Canada .(1974)

He died of lung cancer at the age of 54 and left his wife and 5 children behind.

Francis J.Kovach, of the University of Oklahoma, wrote a " In Memoriam" for him.

 

The Catholic University of America conferred R. Kreyche A.B. and A.M. titles. Subsequently he did "graduate work" at DePaul University of Chicago, and taught at the Gonzaga Preparatory College in Washington DC ;  St. Joseph's College in Emmitsburg in Maryland, and  Loyola College in Baltimore. The subjects of his lectures were: Philosophy of the Modern World, Christianity and Communism, The Heritage of American Freedom, The Christian Family in a changing Civilisation, The Meaning and Significance of a Christian Education,  A Christian Philosophy of Economics.

VII.44  Eugene Anthony (Bud) KREYCHE , born 21/10/1924.

In WWII, Bud was a paratrooper in de 82^nd  American Airborne division. He was dropped in the South of France ( Frejus. Operation Anvil‑Dragoon) and advanced after this invasion upwards through the valley of the Rhône river and the Alps to Epinal,  where contact was made with the 3^rd  American Army, which had broken through in Normandy. Furthermore the division went on to the Elzas and the German border. In the beginning of January 1945, the 82^nd  was summoned up to relieve Bastogne in the Belgian Ardennes. (The Battle of the Bulge!) and afterwards the division went via Aachen , Cologne to Berlin, where the war ended.

Bud stayed for a while in Paris.

He got several degrees at DePauls’s University and the Northestern University, and made his career as teacher, head, inspector and university professor. After his pension he is partime advisor at the university

Hobbies: golf and tennis. Went to California in 1955.

VII.46  Gerald F. (Jerry) KREYCHE , Professor of Philosophy. Born 19/06/1927.

Jerry did a lot of research in the family by mailing, when he lived and worked in Chicago and sent many data to Wil Oteman in Millingen (Tegelen, Netherlands). The last contact must have been about 1983. Thanks to this early research in the American Oteman family,  a lot of data could be obtained  from the elder generation and conserved, which today could hardly be gathered.!

He was a professor of  philosophy at the University DePaul in Cicago IL and now lives, after his retirement (1990) in Dolores CO, at the only point in USA where 4 States meet. (Four corner land : Utah, New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado).

His cedar wooden house is situated at 7000 ft.(2300 m.) and has a panoramic outlook on the  surrounding mountain chains: Mesa Verde ( in which a National Park with splendid Anasazi ruins), the Sleeping Ute, the Rocky Mountain Chains (San Juan Mountains) and the Chains of Utah.

Henk en Wim Oteman from the Netherlands recently remade the contact with this family which lead to mutual friendship.

His brother Robert and he authored several articles and books. Both were Presidents of the American Catholic Philosophical  Association. Gerald has been . for 21 years, Chairman of the DePaul University.

Jerry and Ellie have travelled a lot and have seen  many countries  all over the world.

Jerry is a fervent admirer and supporter of the Western lifestyle and culture and many of his publications, amongst which a remarkable historical and philosophical book prove it.

Books: “Thinkers Plus” , “ Perspectives on God”, “ Visions West”.

 

Regularly he publishes in the American Magazine " U.S Today", in which he has a column.  Ellie and he practise a very close contact with his brother and sister, with his children and grandchildren and his cousins although they are  spread all over America. The introduction to this book is from his hand.
